Renting Safely: Avoiding Rental Scams
Use basic verification steps before sending deposits or signing rental agreements.
Be cautious when a rental price is unusually low, the person will not meet or show the property, payment is demanded through gift cards or wire transfer, or you are pressured to pay immediately.
Verify the property address and the person or company claiming authority to rent it. Read the lease, understand fees, and confirm payment instructions through a trusted channel.
CSRA Local does not verify property ownership or landlord authority and does not process rental payments.
